Admission Requirements - English Language Proficiency
It is a requirement for most courses that students from non English speaking countries have appropriate English proficiency before gaining a full offer for the chosen course of study.
TAFE NSW and most Universities will accept TOEFL iBT, OET, CAE and PTE depending on the course the student wish to undertake. please note that OET is only applicable to students wishing to pursue health/medical and other community Service related courses. The scores differ from course to course.
For students who may not have met the required IELTS band score, they can package their offer with extra English classes before commencing their diploma or degree programs. The number of weeks depends on the student’s score and the IELTS requirement of the chosen course of study.
In most countries, IELTS exams are administered through the British Councils or other approved providers.
International students must study for a minimum of 25 hours full-time per week while enrolled in an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) course in order to meet the requirements of their visas.
